ATC Automation Application

General Notes:
1. This application is provided "as is". No warranty is offered for its fitness for any particular use.
2. PowerWorld Corporation does not provide technical support for this application.

User Notes:

1. The application consists of 2 Microsoft Access (mdb) files:

a. ATCData.mdb: contains all of the data, including the results of the completed ATC runs
b. ATCForms.mdb: contains the user interface and application code

2. The application is designed to operate with both files residing in the directory C:\ATCAutomationDemo. If they are moved, the data tables must be relinked in the ATCForms.mdb file. To do this, open ATCForms.mdb, then choose Tools -> Database Utilities -> Linked Table Manager. From the dialog, choose select all, check the box Always prompt for new location, and then choose OK. Locate the ATCData.mdb file and choose open. A confirmation dialog will advise whether the tables were successfully relinked and refreshed. If you are using the Microsoft Access runtime application, you may have to adhere to the original directory structure where both files reside in C:\ATCAutomationDemo.

3. Once the database files are installed and the tables linked, the application may be used as follows:

a. Open ATCForms.mdb
b. Step through the records on the Control Panel to locate an existing study or create a new one. Complete the information in the fields on the top of the Control Panel.
c. Enter or edit the information to configure the Outage Conditions and Transfer Direction (OC/TD) scenarios. Check the Selected box for each scenario you wish to process.
d. Enter or edit the information to configure the Primary Outage scenarios. Check the Selected box for each scenario you wish to process.
e. Click Process Selected Scenarios to start processing ATC calculations.
f. When all calculations are finished, click View Results.

4. User-Maintained Files and Records

a. The user must maintain several files and records to produce effective results with the ATC Calculator. All files must reside within the Project Directory identified on the Control Panel. Each is described in greater detail in subsequent sections and is summarized as follows:

i. PowerFlow Case (PowerWorld Simulator Binary, pwb): base cases for each Outage Conditions and Transfer Direction (OC/TD) Scenario
ii. ATC Settings/CTG File (PowerWorld Simulator Auxiliary File, aux): contains all settings for contingency analysis and ATC analysis to be performed in producing results for the ATC Calculator
iii. Primary Outage Aux File (PowerWorld Simulator Auxiliary File, aux): must contain named SCRIPT sections that describe the actions (usually transmission branch outages) that comprise each Primary Outage; these actions must reference transmission objects that occur in the PowerFlow Case(s) with consistent bus numbering schemes
